University Services

Online students in the College of Liberal & Professional Studies will be affected when weather-related on-campus closures suspend operations for the University. This document lists potentially affected services, provides their inclement-weather policy when applicable, and suggests alternatives when available.

  • LGBT Center
    • Currently, the LGBT Center closes alongside the University inclement-weather days. The physical building is not open, but professional staff will work remotely and can meet with students virtually.
    • LGBT Center contact information.
  • Office of the Chaplain:
    • The Office of the Chaplain follows the guidelines of the University and if the school is closed, then the office will also be closed. The Chaplains are always on call for any emergency.
    • Office of the Chaplain contact information.
  • Path@Penn:
    • Students can call 215-898-MELT to see if the any of the University functions are available. Since most offices now have remote capability, even in the event of closures, most offices will have someone available to assist.
    • SFRS contact information.
  • PennKey Support:
    • PennKey Support and the Two-Step hotline will continue to operate during usual hours during inclement weather--Monday-Friday, 8am to 6pm ET.
    • PennKey Support contact form
    • Two-Step Support Hotline: (215) 746-2222
  • Penn Libraries:
    • The Penn Libraries offers limited virtual reference services when the University closes due to inclement weather.
    • Penn Libraries contact form (includes chat option called “Ask”)
  • Penn Tech Center [service for non-course technology issues (e.g., device malfunction)]
    • The Penn Tech Center uses ModSquad for Tier 1 support, so inclement-weather closures do not affect most Tech Center support requests from students.
    • Penn Libraries IT staff and ISC monitor the Tech Center ticketing system during closures due to inclement weather and address any urgent or time sensitive issues.
    • Penn Tech Center ticketing form.
  • Special Services (Division of Public Safety):
  • Student Financial Aid:
    • Student Financial Aid staff are not considered Essential University Staff, so their office is not open during campus closures due to inclement weather.
  • Women’s Center:
    • If the Penn Women’s Center closes for any reason, they continue to monitor their main email and voicemail inboxes (vpul-pwc@pobox.upenn.edu and 215-898-8611). Staff will return any messages as soon as possible. If there is an urgent need for support, the direct people to contact:
      • Special Services 215-898-4481 or 215-898-6600 (24hr) or
      • Student Counseling’s 24-hour line: 215-746-WELL (9355)
