Zoom Access if Canvas is Down

Modified on Tue, 04 Oct 2022 at 11:20 AM

If Canvas is down and you have a Zoom meeting scheduled, you can still access that meeting and start it in two different ways.

First way:

  1. Open the Zoom App on your desktop.
  2. Once inside the Zoom App, you have access to your scheduled meetings for the day.
  3. Please copy the meeting link and send this to your students via the class mailing list to let them know that is the link you'll be meeting at today during the Canvas outage. You should specify that students should use the link in the email even if the canvas outage ends to avoid confusion on where to meet. (This should be the same link that you would use in Canvas for the course anyway, but it's good to alleviate any potential uncertainty for students.)

Second way:

  1. If you do not have the Zoom app, you can always go to upenn.zoom.us to access our zoom client via the browser. Select Sign in.
  2. Then select Meetings from the left-hand menu. You should see a list of all your previously scheduled meetings for today. You can start any of those meetings from this screen.
