TABLE OF CONTENTS
Overview
Zoom's AI Companion for Meetings and Whiteboard is available to students with a Penn Zoom account.
Zoom's AI Companion can assist with the following:
- In-Meeting Questions - Quickly catch up and get clarity on what you missed during a meeting without interrupting.
- Smart Recording - Review cloud recordings faster through highlights, smart chapters, summaries, and next steps, and get analytics on key meeting and conversation factors.
- Meeting Summary - Generate a summary and next steps of what was discussed in your meetings.
- Content Generation - Generate ideas, refine and extend existing content, and add objects to a canvas in Zoom Whiteboard.
Hosts have the ultimate control over AI Companion use in their Zoom sessions. This means students will be unable to receive a meeting summary, ask in-meeting questions, or get a smart recording if the instructor (who is the host) does not turn the AI Companion feature on or want it used for the course.
Please Note:
- Students who have a Zoom account affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania Hospital or Medical School will not be able to access this feature.
- You must have the most recent update of the Zoom app to ensure AI Companion will work: Update the Zoom app.
Enable or Disable the Zoom AI Companion
To enable or disable for your own use:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal by navigating to https://upenn.zoom.us/ (and if asked to log in after pressing sign in, Log in with SSO button; do not type in your email in the log-in area) When asked for domain, type upenn.
- In the navigation menu, click Settings.
- Click the AI Companion tab.
- Toggle on which aspects of AI Companion you would like to use for meetings and Zoom whiteboard.
Please Note:
- Enabling Zoom AI Companion for your Zoom account does not mean it is automatically enabled for each Zoom session you host. You will still be able to determine if you would like to use AI for each meeting individually, similar to the Record feature.
- Participants will be notified that AI Companion is turned on for their meeting. This pop-up is similar to the record notification Zoom participants receive when the meeting will be recorded, allowing the individual to leave the meeting if they do not consent.
