Microsoft Office 0365 ProPlus Overview
Each student at Penn is provisioned with a Microsoft Office 0365 ProPlus account. A Microsoft Office 0365 ProPlus account allows students to download Microsoft software, such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint, on up to 5 personal devices.
To download and access this software, students must first activate their account by following the link below and then log in with their Penn email and PennKey password.
Activation and Sign in
Students will need to activate their Microsoft Office 0365 ProPlus account in order to download the required Microsoft software. Please follow Information Systems and Computing’s (ISC) Guide to activating Microsoft ProPlus.
The Penn email format students should use to sign in to Microsoft is: “PennKey”@upenn.edu (with no quotations) after activation is complete. The password they should use is the same password as their PennKey login. Please see the example below:
Correct: pennkey@upenn.edu
Incorrect: pennkey@sas.upenn.edu
ISC’s page linked above will provide instructions on how to download Microsoft software to different devices, as well as offer troubleshooting tips.
Important Notes:
- Students will continue to use Google@SAS Gmail for their Penn email and will not be able to access Microsoft Outlook for email or calendaring.
- Students will be able to download Microsoft software onto 5 different devices.
- Students will be able to access Microsoft Word (Word Processer) and Microsoft PowerPoint (Slide Creation/Presentation tool) as well as some additional MIcrosoft tools if they wish.
- To keep your licenses active, students need to connect at least one Office application (Excel, Word, etc.) to the Internet at least once every 30 days on every computer or device. If this is not done, applications will enter a reduced functionality mode, and the user will need to reactivate their account. Information on how to do this can be found in the FAQ section.
